Must see 2016 electric festival in Rouken Glen - Electric Glen

Must see 2016 electric festival in Rouken Glen

Electric Glen lighting festival will transform Rouken Glen Park into an electric wonderland for eight nights in February 2016.

The must-see event of winter 2016 brings a new team of creatives to East Ren to work their magic and transport visitors to a luminous world within the boundaries of the park.

The creative director behind the new event is world renowned Phil Supple who designed the lighting for the ceramic poppy installation at The Tower of London and for the Speed of Light and Ghost Peloton performance art.

Spectacular event

Phil promises to bring light accompanied by original musical and sound scores to Rouken Glen:

I'm looking forward to bringing light and life to the dark winter months in one of the West of Scotland's most beautiful parks. Rouken Glen has been given a makeover in recent months courtesy of the Heritage Lottery Fund Parks staff and we're aiming to show it off in the best possible light in February.

We'll be building on the success of our original programme in 2013 and returning to light up the whole perimeter of the famous boating pond in technicolour. I'm exploring research into the historical design output of the Thornliebank Printworks and I am working with some great digital artists to produce an animated projection work next to the Auldhouse Burn, shedding light on some of the 200 year old commercial patterns alongside contemporary Scottish designs in fantastic artwork.

Electric Glen will celebrate the incredible design heritage and unique landscape of Rouken Glen using the talents of some of the nation's finest contemporary landscape and outdoor artists. It's all very exciting!

Talented trio

Phil is teaming up with the production company headed by Derek Allan of Allan Associates and Phil O'Halloran from NL Productions whose credits include staging the award winning The Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry.

The enhanced show will improve the visitor experience for people with a disability or pushing wheels.

Tickets for Electric Glen will go on sale Friday 16 October. They will be available from Ticketmaster.
