Your event questions answered

Find out more about the event.

When is the event?

Electric Glen will run from 4 to 14 February*.

Entrance is ticketed at timed half hour slots from 5pm to 8.30pm with the event closing at 10pm.

*The event is not currently scheduled to run on Monday 8 February or Tuesday 9 February.

Where is the event taking place?

The event is taking place in:

Rouken Glen Park
Giffnock
G46 7UG

Starting at the entrance off Davieland Road by the Boathouse café.

Who is it suitable for?

Electric Glen is suitable for all ages and would particularly suit family groups. We ask that small children should be closely monitored by adults at all times.

How long does it last and how long can I stay?

The trail is approx 1.4km long and will take on average 45 minutes to one hour to complete however you may stay in the park as long as you please.

The wheels only route around the pond is 0.7km and will give limited access to the event, but will include a view of the waterfall and from a vantage point overlooking part of the glen. Discounted tickets will be available for this route and will include free entry for one accompanying adult to the wheel chair user.

You are free to explore Electric Glen at your own pace but please remember to stay on the designated paths at all times.

When does it start and finish?

The first session each night will begin at 5pm, with sessions every half hour until the last entrance at 8.30pm. The event will close at 10pm.

Can I take a pram buggy with me as I have small children?

Buggies are not advised as there are seven flights of steps after the food court (to allow you to to enter the floor of the Glen) and on reaching the waterfall, there is a long staircase of 80 steps.

Can I bring my dog?

If you are bringing your dog it must remain on a short lead at all times. Please be aware that there are electrical components and hot lights at ground level which dogs could find interesting therefore please pay particular attention to what your dog is investigating.

Catering and toilets

There will be catering facilities halfway round the trail at our woodland food court featuring locally sourced, fresh and hot, snacks and drinks. An additional catering stop will be at the top of the waterfall, adjacent to the pond.

Catering is also available on site through the Boathouse either for meals or snacks from their hatch. Contact the Boathouse to book a table on 0141 638 6203 or enquiries@roukenglenboathouse.co.uk.

Full toilet facilities are available at the Electric Glen entrance with additional toilets provided at the food court and at the top of the waterfall (including disabled access).

Who is responsible for managing the event?

Electric Glen is presented by East Renfrewshire Council with the assistance of Allan Associates working with lighting, AV and sound specialists under the direction of creative director Phil Supple of Light Refreshment.

Can I bring a camera?

If you are a photographer please be respectful of other visitors and don't spend time blocking paths or viewing points. There is no restriction on bringing tripods or other reasonably sized equipment to Electric Glen.

We would highly recommend you bring a camera as there will be so many amazing installations to photograph. Remember to use smart phones and compact digital cameras to share images via social media.
